JOINT ROAD SAFETY TEAM

The Greater Manchester Joint Road Safety Team provides a lead to all ten Greater Manchester Districts, the Greater Manchester Police, the Highways Agency, other countywide stakeholders and the Greater Manchester Joint Transport Team on all matters concerning the development, implementation and co-ordination of the Greater Manchester Road Safety Strategy.

DriveSafe logoThe team is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to ensure delivery of the Greater Manchester Local Transport Plan road safety targets.

The team has a specific remit in the following areas of countywide work:

  • The Management and operation of the Greater Manchester Casualty Reduction Partnership
  • Overseeing the work of the safety camera operations
  • Coordinating the Greater Manchester Speed Limit Review and the development of a Greater Manchester Speed Management Strategy.
  • The development and implementation of a Greater Manchester Communications, Publicity & Marketing Strategy.
  • The management and operation of the Greater Manchester Driver Improvement Scheme.
  • The monitoring of the LTP Road Safety Delivery Plan
  • Taking the strategic lead in the preparation of Greater Manchester bids for future government grants for road safety projects.
  • The management of specific countywide road safety projects funded by the Department for Transport and other organisations.
